What is an Expert Witness & when would y you need their services?
When do you need help in civil court cases?
What exactly is an Expert Witness when it involves litigation?
Anyone can claim to be an expert in any given field and many people do so mostly out of false pride or inflated ego. But our court system would be overwhelmed by so called “Experts” in every technical lawsuit and the tile and resulting testimonies would be useless and not serve its intended purpose.
As a result of this potential fraud where someone could always find an “expert” to either defend or sue others with misinformation the court has devised a system whereby an individual can demonstrate their background and expertise and be recognized before litigation even starts as a way to level the playing field since the opposing legal counsel can bring their own expert forward to dismiss any testimony of the opposing parties.
This is not a perfect system which does not exist in the real world but it certainly filters out certain individuals who are not competent and who’s incentive is primarily monetary gain and can establish facts from fiction so that the legal world can function within reasonable perimeters.
Peter Roe with Advanced Inspection Services is one of those individuals who has demonstrated to the court his extensive background in the construction field with a combined fifty years in both the trades and building inspection industry and is recognized in a number of judicial jurisdictions as such an individual.
One of the skills that he brings to the table whether it be for the plaintiffs or defense is his ability to evaluate claims of poor workmanship, improper use of materials, not following industry or manufacture’s guidelines or outright negligence in any given case and will only participate in litigation if these claims are legitimate and founded in universally accepted building practices.
Because of the uniqueness of any given situation this is charged on an hourly basis since every case will be unique and require whatever time it takes to fully investigate and document so that a solid argument can be made about legitimate claims.
It would not be ethical, appropriate or legal to discuss his success rate or divulge specific details about his past work but if requested he can provide written affidavits and proof of past work that has ended in positive outcomes for his clients whether they be plaintiffs or defendants.
