Energy Audits using Thermographic Technology

There is a direct correlation between conservation and economic impact

Wouldn’t it have been wise to have that carved in stone when the current utility bills for a large percentage of the population is now approaching parody with the mortgage payment?  Will utilities decrease in the future? *See death and taxes.

But there is an alternative to nonexistent cheap fuel that is available now and that magic strategy is called energy efficiency.  I am not talking about high efficiency HVAC’s , heat pumps or solar hot water heaters which can certainly help; I am talking here about pure straight forward conservation.

Theoretically a home or any building can be heated by a light bulb, an incandescent in this case since LED’s have arrived and produce much more light than heat compared to outdated technology.

The “trick” here is to contain and/or prevent the passage of heat which needs to be generated and contained inside during cold weather and blocked and removed during hot weather.

High efficiency appliances undoubtedly lower utility costs but only with a significant monetary investment with an average lifespan of ten to fifteen years which most people cannot afford and can be a wasted investment if the buildings shell is incorrectly or poorly insulated.

In new construction certain materials, methods and building practices can be employed to address these critical issues up front but what do you do with an existing structure outside of major renovation and disruption with all of the obvious costs involved?

That’s where Infrared thermography comes into play where a full energy audit of an existing building can be done by specially trained technicians with specific equipment in order to “See the Unseen” and identify any area in the structure that is literally leaking dollars of energy costs out the “proverbial window!”

That is the expertise and service that Advanced Inspection Services can provide for the home or building owner without invasive testing or disruption to the contents and/or the occupants.

This approach combined with years of working with existing homes and buildings with a vast level of experience in remodeling and renovation along with nationally certified LEED AP OM (Existing Buildings) designation can both identify “Holes” in the building envelope and layout specific strategies for addressing these wasteful and frankly unnecessary and addressable money pits.

Does that mean that you can now leave the lights on and save tons of money? Absolutely not! But dollar for dollar retrofitting existing buildings directly by a guided solid energy analysis and very specific retrofitting techniques is by far the best investment for the buck that any owner can address.

Plan for the future by preparing today with affordable guided energy efficient retrofitting which immediately pays dividends both now and well into the not so distant future.

If this sounds like a possible high return on investment not to mention occupant comfort,  then please contact Peter Roe with Advanced Inspection Services for a consultation on this very straight forward system of analysis, applications and viable solutions.

I am sure that most people of have heard the adage “a few things in life are inevitable like death and taxes” Well I think it is safe to say that we can also add to that reality “higher utility prices.”

Seventy years ago during the dawn of the civilian nuclear age the then Chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission Levi L. Strauss forecast that “Electricity would be so cheap, that they won’t bother to meter”
